Undo a dislike… and change your mind

We decided to do something new at Purple.
From now on, for every important new feature, we’ll take the time to write a short article like this one to explain it. Not just to announce something new, but to tell you why we built it, where it comes from, and what it actually changes for you.
Because most of the time, what we build in the app comes directly from you.
And this feature is exactly that.
“I disliked by mistake…”
Since the launch, we’ve received quite a few messages about this.
Girls who swiped too fast. Others who wanted to open a profile but accidentally rejected it. And then those who weren’t convinced at first… but changed their mind afterward.
We’ve also seen messages like “she actually seemed really nice” or “I wish I could see her again but it’s too late”.
And honestly, that makes sense.
When you’re using the app, everything goes fast. You look at a profile, decide, and move on. Sometimes in just a second. And that one second can be enough to miss someone.
A decision that felt a bit too final
Before, when you disliked someone, that was it.
The profile disappeared, and there was no way to go back. Even if it was a mistake or just a moment of hesitation.
We felt like that was a bit too final.
Because in the end, Purple isn’t just an app where you scroll through profiles. It’s an app where you can make real connections. And it’s a shame to miss out because of one quick gesture.
What we added (and what’s coming)
So we added the ability to undo a dislike.
The feature is currently being developed and will be included in the next app update, normally this Tuesday at the end of the day.
We chose to introduce it progressively.
At first, you’ll only be able to undo a dislike in certain parts of the app where you can find profiles again. For example, through boosted profiles, in the monthly leaderboard or during the swipe.
Later on, we also plan to make it available in other areas, especially in video stories. But that’s not coming just yet.
A small cost, but a clear logic
Undoing a dislike costs 1 diamond.
The idea isn’t to block anything, but to keep a bit of meaning behind actions. You can make mistakes, it happens, but it’s still something you do consciously.
We wanted to avoid a system where everything becomes fully automatic and endlessly reversible.
What it actually changes
In practice, it mainly removes a lot of frustration.
That feeling of “maybe I missed someone” fades a bit. You still have a way to go back, without breaking how the app works.
And sometimes, it’s that small detail that makes all the difference.
What’s next
Like many things on Purple, this feature comes directly from your feedback. We keep reading, observing, and improving the app based on that.
And from now on, for every important new feature, we’ll take the time to explain it here.
Because Purple isn’t built alone. It’s built with you.
Jennifer.
Purple is available!
The app is available on iOS et Android.
